Dates announced for Global Road Safety Film Festival
The 2017 Global Road Safety Film Festival will take place on 20-21 February at the Palais des Nations, Geneva. The Festival will see film makers compete for the best road safety film, and for various special category awards. Those wishing to submit a film must do so before 15 January 2017. More

Video: autonomous truck delivers a load of beer
A self-driving truck in America has passed one of the 'crucial tests' in the technology's development by delivering a shipment of beer (containing 51,744 cans). The truck used its onboard cameras, lidar and radar sensors to navigate itself 120 miles from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs, without any input from the supervising human driver.

TSO to host live Periscope interview with Dr Lisa Dorn
The Stationery Office (TSO) has announced that Dr Lisa Dorn will be joining them for a live Periscope interview on 24 November (1pm). Dr Dorn will field questions around her book the ‘Official DVSA Guide to Better Driving,’ as well as any questions people may have around the attitudinal side and how anxiety can affect your driving.

Brake’s 'Roads to Justice' campaigners head to Downing Street
Two families involved in Brake’s Roads to Justice campaign will be heading to London on Thursday to hand over their Change.org petitions, both of which have reached an impressive 100,000 signatures.

FleetMaster wins Brake's Fleet Safety Product Award
FleetMaster has seen its contribution to reducing at-fault collisions in its customers’ young driver population recognised, being awarded the Fleet Safety Product Award (Road Safety) at the Brake Awards held at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham, on 29 September.

Annual services for road victims to take place on 20 November
To mark the World Day of Remembrance for all persons killed on the road globally, the Road Victims Trust has organised two Services of Remembrance for 20 November. The annual events, which are well attended by road safety partnerships and emergency services, are always well received by the families and friends supported by the trust. All are welcome to attend.

British parents spending 150 hours a year on the 'school run' drive
The average daily 'school run' drive takes parents 47 minutes each day, despite children living on average 1.6 miles from their school, according to new research from by car insurer Sheila’s Wheels.

Rise in company car drivers speeding on motorways
Nine out of ten (88%) company car drivers admit to speeding on motorways, according to new research from RAC Business, representing a year-on year increase of 7%. In fact almost half (48%) of company car drivers surveyed said they break the speed limit on motorways on most journeys, compared to only 26% of private motorists.

Watch out for deer as mating season approaches - GEM
GEM Motoring Assist is advising drivers to take extra care in areas where deer are common, as their breeding season gets underway. The period makes deer more mobile than usual, bringing them onto roads and increasing the risk of collisions.
