Council turns to YouTube in search for ‘local heroes’
Bath & North East Somerset Council (BaNES) has turned to YouTube to help recruit new school crossing patrols (SCP) to work at eight of the council’s 32 SCP sites.
The YouTube video, which is also available on the council’s twitter feed, features young actor 'Dylan' from the Acting Out Drama Club in Bristol, supported by pupils from Whitchurch Primary School.
The film, which has been circulated to all schools across BaNES, encourages residents to become ‘a local hero’ by joining the SCP team.
In the film, Dylan plays ‘mini-SCP’ Alfie, who says: “We’re on the lookout for new recruits, so this incredibly worthwhile job might be just right for you.
“As a SCP officer, you really are important to the public’s safety so you get a lot of respect and really feel part of the school community - so people always stop to say hello.
The BaNES press release which accompanies the film, says: “If you would like to work outdoors, meet lots of people and gain a real sense of community then the SCP service could be perfect for you.”
