Northern Ireland's 'frightening' drink drive figures
Assistant chief constable Duncan McCausland has described the number of people arrested for drink or drug driving in Northern Ireland this year as ‘frightening’.
He said the figure of 1,946 was ‘unacceptable’ and that a ‘minority of people’ still insisted on driving after taking alcohol or drugs.
The figures were released at the launch of Operation Surge, the summer anti-drink drive and road safety operation.
