Candidates achieve road safety Foundation qualification
Eight candidates have successfully completed the first Road Safety Practitioner Foundation Course, which is offered by the Road Safety GB Academy and was piloted in the north east of England.
The photo shows four of the successful candidates (l to r): Gillian Pace (Durham CC), Gillian Hope (Durham Police), Judith Forster (Durham CC) and Dave Yews (Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service) with their certificates.
The other successful candidates were: Alyson Down (North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service), Ruth Thompson (Cleveland Police), Zoe Jones and Gillian Cook (both Gateshead Council).
Cheryl Evans, Head of Training at the Road Safety GB Academy, said: “The new Foundation course provides participants with an overview of the knowledge and skills they need to effectively and safely deliver a road safety educational intervention.
“By the end of the course a participant will be able to assess the need for an educational intervention (based on data); understand the importance of research and evaluation; and understand the need to work in partnership with other organisations.
“The course is essential for all road safety practitioners, new or experienced, who are interested in achieving a qualification in road safety.”
The next Foundation course will be held at Medway Council Offices in Kent on 2-3 December 2013 (part 1) and 13-14 January 2014 (part 2). Click here for more details.
Another course will be held at the Devon Travel Academy in Exeter on 21-22 January (part 1) and 4-5 March 2014. Click here for more details.
