Easter – the perfect time to promote Footprints
The Easter holidays might just provide youngsters with the time to take the perfect shot for the Footprints photography competition – and road safety teams are being urged to promote the competition in their local area.
Earlier this month Road Safety GB launched the national competition for budding photographers to support the Second UN Global Road Safety Week (6-12 May) and its theme of pedestrian safety.
Footprints is open to young people aged 11-18 years and requires competitors to snap away on the theme of pedestrian safety. The competition runs until 21 April, and the Easter holidays could provide the perfect time for youngsters to crack on with capturing that award-winning image. The winner and runner up will receive Panasonic camera equipment.
Road safety teams are being encouraged to promote the competition in their local area, and to assist with this there is an information pack in the members’ area of this website. The pack includes downloadable publicity materials and entry form for distribution to local schools and colleges.
Su Ormes, who is organising the competition on behalf of Road Safety GB, said: “The competition is designed to encourage pedestrians in the 11–18 age bracket to think of their safety and that of their peers.
“With the Easter holidays fast approaching, this is the ideal time for road safety teams to promote the competition to their schools and local media.”
The shortlisted entries will be showcased on the Road Safety GB website during Global Road Safety Week, with the winners being selected by public vote. The winning entry will be used to create a road safety poster.
